Blazing Guitars
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on November 8th, 2007, at 8:38pm

The most recent episode of South Park featured the kids playing Guitar Hero. It was enjoyable. It has me newly rehooked on Kansas - “Carry On My Wayward Son” in a way I haven’t been since the year 2000 (y2k!!!).

And now I’m delving into my audio searching for any song that features blazing, wailing, and otherwise raucous guitars. The new Coheed & Cambria does well and I still looking for a few more tunes to fit in.

Work is going well still. I’m getting a much better grasp of what goes on in the overall organization as opposed to just my business unit. Doesn’t hurt I guess. Things work a lot different here than they would in Nebraska or Colorado, but I like some of the ideas and I’ve got a lot of respect for the people in charge. They’re not just on autopilot doing their thing, they actually care.

I recently came up with my goals for 2008. (Not resolutions, dang it, and speaking of non-resolutions I’m at 312 days.)

Largest goal for 2008: Get married (or meet the woman)!

Nope, I’m not setting my sights high at all, but I’ve decided to be honest with myself. Of all the things in my life I feel would be most worth accomplishing next year, marriage is number one. I’m analytical and calculating and obsessed — and probably hurting my chances by blogging about it! (Great, now I have to make sure she doesn’t read my blog until IT’S TOO LATE!)

Wahaha.

The Dane offered me some good dating advise: lure them with anime. I tried it once, and I can’t forget the horrors I experienced… the show featured a boy who would turn into a squirrel every time he got hugged. Horrible, horrible! Actually, I had fun on that date, but it wasn’t going to work so instead I just made out with her, went home, and broke up with her over the phone the next time I talked to her.

So yeah. No more first/second dates with anime. I’m still recovering from the mental searing.

True story.

It’s been a decent week. At the tail-end I’m finding myself tired, but I’ve had enough positive interaction with the human element of the world to get me through a few more days. I’ve been leaning heavily on WoW for moral support, and I’ve actually had a few decent messages on Facebook this week despite its norm of small talk and idle chatter.

Work is okay, but contributes to tiredness. I had one excellent call to start my day, but inevitably the day was also filled by an assortment of idiots, a******s, and ungrateful bastards. Next time you call a corporate 1-800 # please remember the person answering is a human, too. Sure, some of them suck, but some of us actually care. Or at least try to care.

I’m waiting for my latest shipment from Amazon to cheer me up. I’ve got a couple CDs, a comic book (The Dane recommended Love Is A Foreign Language, so I’m grabbing it), and Dr. Strangelove on the way.

I love Dr. Strangelove. I can’t wait to pull that insane, wheel-chair-bound, German scientist out of the box to hear his madness.

By the way, if you’re looking for the answer, it’s One Quarter of a Century.

Responsibility, what’s that?

Matt says (paraphrase), “I was scraping the second story bedroom window and I saw a bunch of things that looked like slugs on the paint. I kept scraping and scraping, and thought to myself, ‘it really smells funny right here.’ Then I looked up and saw a bat on a shutter. I thought, ‘maybe the smell is coming from that dead bat.’ I poked it. It hissed at me. Then I got down the ladder before it could knock me off. I’ll get it later with a hose. Those slugs were probably bat poop.”

The ppl we’re housesitting for get back on Tuesday. Whoops. We didn’t think it was that soon. Mad rush to get out! We need to finish painting the windows, too.

Two One shifts left at McDs. I’ve got a telephone survey job lined up for the school year. The manager didn’t guarantee the job would exist, but it seems likely.

Tonight, Travis is going to look at my car for me. Hopefully we’ll figure out the break situation and be able to repair it in the next few days. I have hopes of going home for a week starting next Wednesday. The car situation ended up well. $40 to fix the rotors. I need to have a couple other things checked out at a car shop just in case, but this fixed the immediate problem.

My dad’s laser eye surgery went well today. It takes some time to heal up perfectly, but his far-sight should be better now.

Yo estoy… entonces… err…. uh…. consado? Solamente hablo un pocito de español.
