Happy Snow Day!
Posted by on January 26th, 2004, at 10:20am

Wow, what luck. I wasn’t paying any attention Saturday night, then I woke up yesterday morning and everything was icy. Cora got in my car and I started scraping the windows. * scrape scrape scrape * “hmm….” * scrape scrape scrape * I heard Cora laughing from in the car. We decided that the 5 milimeters of ice would take half an hour to scrape off, so we decided we’d be late for church so we went back inside.

Last night was even more incredible. I got word of people going sledding, so I met them down in the lobby at 9pm. In our search for sleds, we wound up at the Wal-Mart south of town. Apparently, “it’s spring in retail.” Ok, seriously, IT’S SNOWING PEOPLE! Sell us sleds. Wal-Mart would’ve made at least $10 if they’d been selling sleds yesterday.

We got to the hill out at Holmes Lake yesterday, climbed to the top, and then we made use of the cardboard boxes we’d acquired. They managed fairly decently, although they were destroyed and wound up in the garbage by the time we left. So benevolent souls gave us a real sled which faired far better than the cardboard even though the sled was beat up and worn.

Afterwards there was hot chocolate and popcorn in Ray’s room, then back to my room. Oh, the joy of non-wet clothes.

And then I woke up and then I checked the internet and then I found out school was cancelled and then I decided to stay up since the day’s first activities didn’t involve trudging to class through the snow.

So now I have more time to study. * sigh *

Workin’, Frisbee, Bible Study, and Cards

Matt and I did some housework and yardwork this morning. The lawn is mowed, back yard watered, weeds whacked, bathroom cleaned, floors swept, carpet vacuumed, etc. It’s all dandy now.

We had some barbecue over at Brian and Tom’s apartment (Kevin’s gone now, so it is thus dubbed “Brian and Tom’s”) then went and played frisbee golf with them, Chuck, Travis G., and a few other guys. Oh, and I got tanner without even going tanning.

Tonight we had our meeting for summer bible study leaders. Hatfield gave us some advice on things and some information to consider when leading the study. I’m teamed up with Jaci to lead one of the six studies. It’s every week and topical covering various aspects of living a Christian life.

Afterwards Jenny and Ray stayed and played a fine game of spades, although Jenny and Matt did beat Ray and I. I have no luck at that game, but I do enjoy it.

Tomorrow I’m going to… well, I’m not sure what I’ll do yet. Perhaps I’ll call Wally World back about that job application. Maybe some other places. Maybe I’ll get lucky and hear back from one of the other places. It’s gotta happen soon.

Well, I had a fun day + a few hours at Ray’s house. Its good to get away and meet some new people. He’s got a big family (8 people including parents). They’re all pretty cool. His sister Rachel is gonna come to school here next year. Now I’ve got a bit of homework to do for tomorrow. I leave you with some

Highlights
- winning two foosball games
- Vanilla Coke
- three hour nap
- church was good
- decorating Easter Eggs
- a highway chase to catch Ray’s mom and get back his wallet ’cause she was trying to catch us and got ahead ’cause we circled the block to go back and get it

Update: Fixed embarassing typo noticed by Tracy. (Thanks :-)
