It’s time to go. Catch you guys later. Please pray for good weather, for my car to take the abuse well, and for an overall safe journey. Thanks…

It’s quite easy to give away earthly possessions. People line up to take them. “Yes, I will take your couch. Are the end tables still available? What about the table, I’d like to have your table!” I’ve succeeded in giving away most of it. Just a couple more items today and I’ll be rid of most of my furniture.

It turns out I’ll be making the drive solo in my vehicle. I won’t be able to fit everything in my car, but my parents assure me they’ll bring the rest of my items sometime in the spring.

Today’s agenda:
- repackage boxes
- give away desk and end tables
- ruthlessly sort items by importance and dispose of the unwanted
- develop a large pile of items to take to Salvation Army
- vote
- drink several beers

A guy at work gave me a six pack of Henry Weinhardt’s Root Beer when I left. I’ve been enjoying it quite a bit.

However, when I say “drink several beers,” it more likely refers to this being my last night to visit Shorty’s… my favorite bar ever. Everyone knows my name… or at least three of the bar tenders–who’re all awesome people–and a few assorted regulars. This will be my last “hurrah” here before vanishing into the misty rain of the Pacific Northwest never to emerge again.

Nearly a Personal Record

The upcoming road trip to Seattle (err, not actually living in Seattle, but working in Bellevue and living in another suburb) will nearly be the longest I’ve ever taken. My solo drive from Lincoln, Nebraska, to Jacksonville, Florida, was around 1,400 miles and this trip will be about the same. I still haven’t decided if I’ll take I-80 or I-90, but I know I won’t be braving the icy treachery of the Eisenhower Tunnel over I-70.

So, anybody want to join me on this road trip? I’ll drive the moving truck and you can drive my car. No really, I’m serious. I don’t have another person to drive with me, and I’m not sure how I’ll get all my stuff out.

Oh well, it’ll all work out, it’s just going to be complicated is all. The good news is the room is furnished if I’m not able to take my stuff.

Update: This is the general area where I’m going to be living. Notice: Less than one mile from the lake. Unfortunately, I’m not on the water, but I’m hoping there’ll be at least one publicly accessible dock in the area.

Done and Done

It’s the end of my job as I know it. Last night I had my last full night of work, and this evening I only had to do my exit interview with one of the upper management before I got out of there.

Things I found out: I had been in consideration for an upcoming system administration position, but my manager neglected to tell me. If I could’ve stayed here, made a lot more money, plus gotten additional training and certifications, I probably would’ve done it. But it’s a little too late now.

Exit interviews are kinda odd like that. You find out things you didn’t know, and you tell somebody things they didn’t know about problems within the department. I made lots of complaints about ergonomics, generic complaints about coworkers, and voiced a few general gripes I’ve heard from friends of mine who work in other positions. I don’t know how much good it will do, but hopefully I voiced things in such a way that it’ll be considered and result in positive change. Who knows though.

I may have a place lined up to live. It’ll be fairly affordable and not far from my new job once I make the move. I’ll be finalizing details on it hopefully by Monday or Tuesday. My target for moving is next Friday, but I’ve still got to work out details of how I will move my things up there.

More updates later. For now, Jack’s Mannequin on my headphones.

Sick Boy

Sick boy, nah nah nah nah, Sick Boy, woah-oh-oh….

Sorry, I got reminded of an MxPx song. I’m not feeling well tonight. =/

So what’s going on with you people? You’ve been awful quiet lately. I guess I haven’t said enough inflamatory stuff. I’ve figured out how to get Jake to comment, but the rest of you are either not reading or you’re not interested. Come on now… don’t be bored… those YouTube videos are supposed to be entertaining! Then again, Phil did tell me he got hooked on the OK Go video w/ the treadmills. Those guys do some fun dancing.

Slightly over two weeks till move out today. Mom was getting on my case tonight ’cause I haven’t started packing and she doesn’t understand. “I just don’t understand, but okay.” Okay! But seriously, I’ve got an insane amount of packing to do and I’m hoping to move out most of my furniture on Tuesday.

I’m not sure where I’m supposed to sleep if I move out all my furniture. I should probably look into that.

Ha ha ha! Haha ha.

The laughs of a mad man. Mania is setting in.

Turns out the military guy I met a few weeks ago is a hoax. Well, at least somewhat. I hope he wasn’t completely lying to me, but a friend told me recently that military-guy is actually a thief who likes to steal from the porn-store where he worked before getting fired.

Support Our Troops! They’re heros, every one of them! Especially the ones at Abu Ghraib. (Is that inflamatory enough? I’ll find out later.)

Well, enough ranting. I’m gonna go drink some water, watch TV, and heavily contemplate cooking some soup. Mmm… soup.
