Actually, I saw this clip in Japanese class during college before I saw it on Jake’s blog, but I’ll give him credit anyway.
Jake, did I ever tell you that you’re my hero? And everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.
I saw the Passion on Thursday. I have mixed feelings. I had expected the film to follow the Bible more accurately based on the various hype I’ve heard and from evangelical leader’s responses to it. It’s not completely accurate and the influence of Mel Gibson’s Catholic beliefs are apparent especially in Mary’s role in the film. If nothing else, the movie gives people an opportunity to talk about what the gospel REALLY says. It’s the Word of God that does the real work to change people’s lives anyway, not the images of Gibson.
Nav Night last night. Prayer & Praise night. It was good. Afterwords, went over to the Hatcher’s to hang out. Good times, and I got to practice my Japanese with Kanako who’s in town from Japan. She’s from Shizuoka and knows Jake and the others who went there last summer.
Today, I’ve got some homework and other stuff to do. Should probably get started on it. Latez!
I’m back at school. It actually starts on Monday, but I got back to town yesterday. I’ve started unpacking and already had one Navigator’s meeting (several more Nav related events/meetings over the next week).
The rest of my time at home went well. I was able to spend a lot of time with Mark and Mark, my family and grandparents, and even Moriah one evening (Mark’s ex-girlfriend).
I blame Tracy’s computer entirely for this post. The ethernet in the dorms is turned off due to computer viruses and worms (and a bit of perhaps justifiable paranoia).
Jake and I came over to Tracy’s apartment, cooked some gyouza, Jake made some mugicha (tea), and we ate it. It wasn’t quality gyouza (it fell apart) but it tasted good. (Mom: “It still tastes fine even if it is in pieces”) Jake had a lot of Japanese anecdotes to share. Now we’re sitting here discussing Seinfeld and Tracy is sewing a pillow.
