The power button for my computer monitor (19″ Dell flat panel) broke today. I called Isaac to ask him to Google for fixes. No luck — nobody knows how to fix computer monitor power buttons. At least, not anyone on the internets.
I called Tyler to ask him if he knew how to fix it. He informed me that monitors aren’t typically designed with deconstruction and fixing in mind.
I called Dell in a feeble attempt to receive “customer service.” In general I like Dell, but their customer service sucked. At first, it’s IVR couldn’t figure out what I was saying, then I got angry and yelled at it and it told me to wait. I waited ten minutes before giving up (plus from previous experience I figured they would ask me to pay them money to give me advice that probably wouldn’t fix the problem anyway — that and my warranty is probably expired).
In frustration with the entire situation, I took out a pocket knife, stabbed the power button repeatedly, and proceeded to cut it out off. I then found where I needed to push to turn on the power, stabbed it, and now my monitor is turned on again.

The life of a computer… I’m not even a year old, and I’m already moving to my third location. My owner, you see, he’s got a number of boxes sitting around. It appears I am destined to be boxed up yet again! I’m sick and tired of this. I must protest, sir!
How am I to be a computer in a box? I will have no electricity, no connection to current events, no part of the network, no speakers through which to work my manipulative audio powers. This, sir, is terrible.
Alas, this is the life I lead. I knew it would be when I signed up for the gig, I just didn’t realize how often I’d have to climb into boxes. Damn boxes!

I’m posting this one for the daily fans. waves at Jenny
Some computers aren’t worth fixing. That’s all I have to say. “Uhm… it’s jacked up beyond all recognition and we’ll have to reinstall Windows.” She’s gonna buy some new hardware though and perhaps Windows XP, so it’ll end up in better shape than it is. Yay.
Word is that Unreal Tournament 2004 is cool. DP recommends it and Justin was playing it today, too.
Oh, and I found out today that Luebbe’s birthday is on March 8. So much for his goal of hiding this year. I could still forget, but I can look it up on here if need be. So if you’re reading this and know him, make sure you tell him happy birthday this year.
D. Patras: “I buy cheap purses, too.”
