Workin’, Frisbee, Bible Study, and Cards

Friends, Life, Work No Comments »Time: 11:56am

Matt and I did some housework and yardwork this morning. The lawn is mowed, back yard watered, weeds whacked, bathroom cleaned, floors swept, carpet vacuumed, etc. It’s all dandy now.

We had some barbecue over at Brian and Tom’s apartment (Kevin’s gone now, so it is thus dubbed “Brian and Tom’s”) then went and played frisbee golf with them, Chuck, Travis G., and a few other guys. Oh, and I got tanner without even going tanning.

Tonight we had our meeting for summer bible study leaders. Hatfield gave us some advice on things and some information to consider when leading the study. I’m teamed up with Jaci to lead one of the six studies. It’s every week and topical covering various aspects of living a Christian life.

Afterwards Jenny and Ray stayed and played a fine game of spades, although Jenny and Matt did beat Ray and I. I have no luck at that game, but I do enjoy it.

Tomorrow I’m going to… well, I’m not sure what I’ll do yet. Perhaps I’ll call Wally World back about that job application. Maybe some other places. Maybe I’ll get lucky and hear back from one of the other places. It’s gotta happen soon.

Plenty

Friends, Life No Comments »Time: 7:57am

After the wedding yesterday, Tyler, Cora, Jake, Jesse, Matt, and I hung out here in the house playing Monopoly, conversing, and such things. It was fun getting to hang out with everybody outside the context of school. Being here in Lincoln and able to do things like this is nice. It was also good to see everybody else who was at the wedding, yesterday.

Matt’s almost moved in; he ran home today to get his clothes then he’ll be here for the summer. Chesnut brought some things over today, too. He’s going to be living here for a couple weeks before he goes to Zambia as one of the team-members from our university’s Navs. I’m not sure if he’s gonna start staying here tonight or not. I’m not sure if Matt will be back tonight or not. The last couple nights we’ve had four people stay here in the house ’cause they needed a place to crash. Perhaps a return to being alone?

I don’t feel alone. Or I just don’t feel lonely. Even with the silence.

Thoughts. Plenty of them, today.

Lack of Sleep, but That’s O.K.

Life No Comments »Time: 11:16am

I am so done with this semester. See me rejoice. *Woohoo!*

I’m tired ’cause I couldn’t fall asleep last night (maybe some of that Mountain Dew Livewire had something to do with it) and my final was at 7:30 this morning. * yawn *

I’m going to hang out and talk with Jenny after lunch. And tonight, to 4L’s casa!

At some point I’m going to relax and enjoy the first day of summer. And then I’ll start wanting money and go find a job.

Or donate plasma.

The Worst Is Over Now…

Life No Comments »Time: 6:52am

The worst is over. I have survived. The hours between 12:30AM and 3:30AM along with the hours between 8AM and 12:30PM were filled with me finishing my six page Early Christianity final. Brutal. But, it’s done. Handed in hours ago and then a quick jot through the 10 in class questions which were relatively easy and I’m surprised I knew given the vague amount of attention I gave most of what the teacher said.

So on Saturday I need to be gone from the dorms. I’m not moving into Mike H.’s house until the 17th, so for the next week I’m dormless and homeless. I talked to Tom today and he said I might be able to snag a couch at their place for a week. Kevin’ll be gone in Colorado, anyway. It’s weird that he’s almost gone forever. His wedding is on the 24th (I’m an usher), and then he’s taking off to be the executive assistant of the head of the Navs college ministry in Colorado Springs.

This summer is going to be cool. Matt and I are living in the same place. Tyler A., Tracy, Ray, and a bunch of other people are going to be in Lincoln. Phil, Jenny, and Rachael will be in Omaha. Cora will be out in A-Town. It’s not like the school year where everybody will be within 10 minutes, but it’s still going to be fun and I’m looking forward to being at least within range of the majority of my school friends. And for those who are further away, I can always just use the telephone.

And now it is time for me to log off this beautiful Apple. Oh, how I wish they didn’t cost so much money. It’s all a question of marketing and such. *sigh*

I’ll probably have my ethernet card back in my computer later today so I’ll be functional again. Then back to dialup starting next week. * cries *

Applebees, Scones, Omaha

Friends, Life No Comments »Time: 6:33am

So I woke up today. I wake up at some point just about every day. If I didn’t then I wouldn’t be around to post. Or else in a coma. But anyway, back to my day.

Had lunch over at Applebee’s cause Seth D. is in town for Spring Break. Strawberry Lemonade is good (Thanks, Double-J).

… whoops, I’ve got to go soon. peace out, and I’ll finish the post later.

Update: Okay, to finish off the post. After eating Applebee’s, Matt, JJ, and I came back to the dorm. To summarize the next hour and a half or so, we met up with Matt’s bro Doug and Doug’s girlfriend and went over to Anna’s apartment for scones. In Justin’s words, it was a “comedy of errors.” To start with, we were late. Matt had called them to check on something, but they didn’t answer. We waited for a while and decided to go anyway. “Maybe their phone is just not working or something,” I commented. We got there, and apparently their phone was unplugged. All sorts of other interesting errors (iced tea, but no ice… … a couple botched batches of scones… Doug’s burnt finger… yada yada) showed up, too. On the drive back, Matt, Justin, and I all had a good laugh. The scones ended up being good, the tea was fab(ulous), and the company was swell.

At night Phil, Cora, and I went to Omaha and saw “From Dust” perform at a coffee shop as part of a Student Venture event. Phil and Matt know some of the members of From Dust and I know another guy named Weasel who hangs out with that crowd, so it was a good time.
