Today’s the last day of the job. Afterwards, I will celebrate by returning home, not sleeping, taking a shuttle to the airport at 3AM, waiting for my 6AM flight, and flying to my homeland of Denver (while listening to Bright Eyes - “At the Bottom of Everything” and Sherwood - “This Airplane is a Ribbon“). At some point in life I’d like to watch the first episode of LOST on an airplane, but I’m not sure that’d go over well so I won’t.

So I’ll sleep sometime tomorrow and then begin enjoying my vacation. I CAN’T WAIT!!! Woooooo!

Thumbs up!

Update: Yup, I’m done done. I even escaped a couple hours early. Good thing, too, considering I haven’t packed yet. I’m rushing my laundry through during the next few hours and then I’ll be good good good to go.

I got the job. I start two days after I get back home from my vacation later this month.

Shadows of Who We Used to Be

I’ll know within the next two weeks. After finding out more, I’m not sure if I want the job. It’s either call center or “revenue recovery.” Not exactly how it sounded on paper. I’d get paid more and better hours, but my soul would slowly suffocate.

I need some way to find a job I can ride out until next summer. It would make things easy. Otherwise, I think I’ll have to stay where I am. I’m also kind of worried because by the next time I do a shift bid the company may have cut all the closing shifts. I wouldn’t mind having earlier hours, however I rely on the 10% shift differential to pay my rent/bills.

This job isn’t officially dead yet in my eyes, but I’ve got doubts and I think the interviewers had doubts.

Time to look some more.

“Why are you looking to change jobs?”

Wrong answer: Because I hate talking to people. I want to live in Japan.

Right answer: Because I am looking to progress in my career path and see This Place as a step along the path with many subsequent opportunities.

My interview has been rescheduled for next Monday.

Update: Okay, strike that, it’s been rescheduled again for next Tuesday.
