Singing Super Villains

Good Times No Comments »Time: 4:50pm

Go watch Dr. Horrible w/ all speed possible! It is hilarious. Apparently, it’s only gonna be streaming on the web until July 20, 2008. (With plans for a DVD at some unspecified point in the future.)

Oh, and there’s a short comic about Captain Hammer on Myspace if you want to read that.

Dr. Horrible is made by Joss Whedon. Yeah. If you know the name, you know it’ll be worth your time.

If you’ve ever wondered how great a singing super-villain show could be, this is your chance to find out!

Dare I Dance, Too?

Good Times, Video 3 Comments »Time: 7:59pm

Dancing 2008 from Where the Hell Is Matt?

I found this video incredibly inspiring. It’s one further push in the direction I’m leaning.

“Which direction is that?” you ask.

Whichever direction takes me around the world. Seattle is a good center point, but I need to TRAVEL!!! All y’all in Nebraska or Kansas or Illinois or Colorado or wherever who are married or working or in college… well, I’m hoping to take advantage of my singleness and my freeness and do something spectacular with it. Now I’ve just gotta work on my dance moves. Perhaps I should ask Jake for some pointers?

Animoto: Music Video Creator

Good Times, Tech, Video No Comments »Time: 11:31am

I just discovered Animoto, a music video creator. You feed it your images and a song you want to use and it uses its magical math skills to fit the images to the beat.

It let’s you create 30-second videos for free. Longer videos with additional features cost either $3/video or $30/year.

For now, I’m sticking w/ the free video option. My first attempt at creating one is below using pictures from the recent trip Benjamin and Suzanne took to visit me.

Haiku!

Good Times, Poetry, Writing No Comments »Time: 6:58pm

I’ve had the pleasure of discovering haikoo.org, a collaborative haiku website created by Tom Music. I met Tom about a month ago at the inaugural Seattle Startup Drinks event (sidenote: never ye fear, I drank no beer). I saw him again yesterday and was reminded of his site and told of new enhancements to it.

The concept of Haikoo.org is a pleasant one and simple. Each person contributes one line of the haiku.

An example. I begin a haiku by giving it a name and the first line. I began one yesterday, and it has already been completed.

Sixes
A Saturday thick
with smoke, fear, and promises
that Sunday will come

(Participants: anwamehtar, kellynisms, tom)

He recently added another feature that allows people to add Youtube videos of the poem being recited. I particularly enjoyed the following one:

streetside
little old lady
release your grocery cart
those shackles are loud

(Participants: vixy, chrispin, WEContact)

And this one by marmay9, dimelane, EnFeu and performed by kellynisms is worth having a laugh about:

confetti
life keeps taking me
by suprise, and it makes me
separate, explode

It’s worth admiring the completed poems, and if you like the premise sign up and try it out.
