It’s been a while since I paid attention to baseball, but the Colorado Rockies performance at the tail end of the 2007 season and into the playoffs has me paying attention. It helps that I used to be an avid baseball follower, particular in the days of Colorado’s Blake Street Bombers (Larry Walker, Andres Galaraga, Dante Bichette, Vinny Castilla).
Now, they’re in the National League Championship Series with a 3-0 lead (best of 7 games) over the Arizona Diamondbacks. They’ve won 20 out of their last 21 games. This is an incredible winning streak.
Jayson Stark (ESPN - article):
Hang on. It gets better. How about Mel Ott, Carl Hubbell and the 1936 Giants. That’s the last National League team to understand what it feels like to ride one of these 20-1 tsunamis.
One more win to get to the World Series.
