I bought a record player today. I bought it from a guy on craigslist for $20. I only had $17.70 in cash and couldn’t get my ATM card to work, so I paid him $15 in cash and wrote a check for $5. The pen died on me so I had to get out another one to finish filling it out. The dude thought I was weird.
But the good news is, now I can play and record vinyl on my computer. This is a grand accomplishment. It’s been probably five years since I’ve listened to my Simon & Garfunkel “Greatest Hits” album. The only vinyl album I own.
I can start going retro now.

Last Sunday, I hiked w/ my roommate Martin up the Little Si Trail in the Cascades. Roundtrip to the summit of Little Si, it’s a five-mile hike. This wore me out, but I had a lot of fun. Afterwards, we stopped back in North Bend and grabbed some excellent dinner at the North Bend Bar & Grill

Looking Up: A view of rocks to the side of the Little Si trail.

Looking Towards the Path: Looking towards the Little Si trail from the rocks about midway through the hike.

Martin on the Rocks

Mount Si: From the summit of Little Si, this is the view of Mount Si (I think)

Reference Mark at the Top of Little Si Trail: I can’t quite read the number of the reference mark, but the rest of it reads (from top to bottom):
FOR INFORMATION OR TO REPORT DAMAGE WRITE
REFERENCE MARK
THE DIRECTOR
NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY
WASHINGTON, DC

I actually got rid of some music today. I sorted through my albums, found 19 albums I no longer want, and packaged them up to take to the store. I also grabbed five miscellaneous anime discs (partial series), one DVD (”Last Kiss” — not recommended at all!), three TV series (ER season 01, Seinfeld season 04 & 05), two computer games, three blah Playstation games, about five paperback books, and one hardback book.
Goodbye, worthless, space-wasting testaments to materialism!
In exchange, I got Donnie Darko (IMDB plot outline: “A troubled teenager is plagued by visions of a large bunny rabbit that manipulates him to commit a series of crimes, after narrowly escaping a bizarre accident.”), Hero, and twenth-eight dollars.
Quality > Quantity.
And bunnies are awesome.

The interview is in two weeks from yesterday or it might be two weeks from today. Wooo wooo!!!! I need to iron my shirt again.
At this rate, I could be working this job by August or September. At least that’s what I’m hoping. As I find out more, I’ll be sure to let you know.
