Apparently this video has only been on YouTube for about a week, but it already has over one million views. Not bad. Watch the Inspiring Story of the Free Hugs Campaign at YouTube.
Updated: Now with pictures!
Alright, I’ll give you one guess who just got engaged? (If you didn’t go to college with me, you can ignore the question.)
Yup, you’re right, Tracy and Scott! Congratulations to both of you!

I called Tracy yesterday after hearing the news. She was at work and struggling incredibly to not laugh and giggle out loud. I expect if she’d been anywhere else she would have yelled, “YES! I’m SOOO HAPPY!” But she was definitely smiling.

So now the big question is: who’s next? I think we already know who it will be. Phil, hurry up and ask her already. It’s been six months, that’s more than enough time. Rock the Nav style, dude. ;)
(If you’re interested, Tracy has a picture of the ring on her site.)
For those of you that wanted Facebook access for whatever reason and had already graduated from college, now you can sign up. More details at TechCrunch.
If, for some reason, you’ve never heard of Facebook… basically, it’s a social networking website a la Myspace that, until now, was primarily limited to college students, high school students, and various corporations and organizations. If you couldn’t sign up before, now you can sign up and add yourself to a group for a specific geographical region. Of course, you can add all your old college buddies as friends as long as they haven’t enabled optional restrictive privacy settings.
So go search me up and add me. I’m waiting for you.
(Yes, Jenny, this means you, too.)
If you read the title of this post, you’ll know why you should be cautious about watching this video. Tyler brought it to my attention. The part that’s more dangerous is I’m posting this without previewing it first. My internet connection is going all slow — my parents’ internet connection is cramping my style.
Yeah, as if I had a T1 connection before. Nope. If only.
On to the video.
Update: This should be in a sci-fi horror movie. Or on Fear Factor. I can do some crazy stuff, but never could I do this.
I believe I’ll look back on this week as one of the focal points of the year. Why? Because I find myself and a lot of my local friends going through a number of huge changes.
1) Me - I’m moving. No, still not to the Wild West Coast. Actually, I’m back with my parents. The deal we struck is that this shall not last more than three months. I’m paying rent, and I’ve moved all of my furniture and a majority of my possessions into a storage unit. The goal is to land a job on my weeklong vacation to Seattle next month and then get out of here.
2) Benjamin - He’s a good friend from work. Wednesday was his birthday. As cool as that is, it’s not the highlight of his week. He gets a key to his first house today. Kinda exciting. It’ll be weird though ’cause we won’t live a few hundred feet away from each other anymore. This will seriously hamper our efforts to beat Burnout Revenge! (Which, by the way, rocks. I love Road Rage.)
3) Smyly - He is my (now-former) roommate. He’s getting married tomorrow. Combine this with our lease being up on the 30th and things will be a bit hectic. My main worry is that we get all the paperwork with our landlord properly addressed before he takes off on his Hawaiian honeymoon.
4) Gail - a lady at work who has been with the company longer than I’ve been alive is retiring. I don’t know her all that well, but she’s shared a lot of knowledge and, more importantly, awesome stories with me in the year I’ve been working there. Tomorrow is her last day.
I’m sure I could come up with some more things, but these things alone make the week seem “bigger” than usual. Somehow life feels primed for a transition even if I wasn’t already planning for the massive change of relocating.
