That’s What I Said
Posted by on August 31st, 2006, at 7:08am

I realized that I’ve had 200 posts since starting this blog back on 6/22/2005. Not quite One-A-Day, but not bad. The thing I thought was odd, however, was what I said.

It’s a fresh start once again. Will I ever settle down and stay in one place? I guess it’s reminiscent of my life. I’ve never stayed in one place too long. The longest I’ve ever consecutively lived in a city has been four years. That may change now that I’m beginning to develop a career. However, technically I haven’t even begun a career yet. I’m right in the middle of changing jobs, but I have high hopes that I’ll enjoy this one and stick with it. I have every intention of beginning work on a masters degree as soon as feasible. As much as I’d like to be done with school forever, I have a feeling a higher degree will help me enhance my ambitions and approach my long-term hopes.

I’ll continue to update you on my plans here and I expect to be more consistent at this point. Thank you for following me from place to place and I apologize for making yet another transition.

It’s only about forteen months later, but the Master’s Degree is definitely a goal. I’m once again hoping to start a new job, and I still don’t feel like I’ve started a “career.” At least I have experience in a specific field of employment.

The good news is my blog isn’t moving now and hopefully not anytime soon. That’s the benefit of running it myself.

Winding Down

Last night poker took place en la casa de Cal. It went fairly well though fewer people arrived than originally expected. I had a lot of fun. I even bought some chairs so the dining-room table isn’t completely devoid of places to sit. I also have my own poker chips now which is nice.

Though it was fun, it’s also kinda sad. It’s essentially the last shindig that will take place while I’m living in this apartment. Exactly one month from today is move-out deadline. Needless to say, I’m starting to worry a little bit. Once I let myself realize the full meaning of what’s changing, I’ll worry a lot more.

I still don’t have a new job and still haven’t heard from any of the places with potential. When that changes, I’ll let you know. I’m fairly hopeful for one of the jobs out there, but the hiring process can take up to three months and it’s only been about three weeks since I applied. I should really start working my connections.

I ended up ordering a couple of t-shirts from Threadless. I ordered Sticks of Shame (which I posted about a few days ago) and Control + Z. Control + Z, in computer parlence, is the key-combination for “Undo” in most applications on Windows. On the Mac, it’s Option + Z or Command + Z or something else. We’ll ignore them for the time being though ’cause it’s a cool shirt regardless.

Any Lord of the Rings fans need to head over and read today’s comic at Real Life Comics. It’s hilarious.

I love these T-shirt designs.

Threadless - Mob Musicians
Mob Musicians: I believe this shirt should be worn by Mr. Varv. While teaching band.

Threadless - Chopsticks
Sticks of Shame – No Skills: This shirt is more or less perfect for the Japan-lovers who, for whatever reason, has no chopstick skills. I have chopstick skills, but I think it’s hilarious so I might buy it anyway. Translated, it says “I can’t use chopsticks. Because of this, MY FACE BURNS WITH SHAME. … can I please have a fork?”

And what? And Japanese game show.

Actually, I saw this clip in Japanese class during college before I saw it on Jake’s blog, but I’ll give him credit anyway.

Jake, did I ever tell you that you’re my hero? And everything I would like to be? I can fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings.

And how.™
