Scatter to the Wind
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on July 25th, 2006, at 8:31am

I’ve begun to throw pieces of paper… err… electronic correspondence to the wind hoping some of it will land and find me a new job.

It has, in fact, begun. I’m also suspecting my comments must be broken ’cause none of you have been saying anything lately. Are they or are you just all busy?

Funny ad for a Ronaldo World Cup Action Figure w/ a brief mention of Zidane at the end. Good stuff. Watch it or just click play from the website.

Seattle Is What I’ve Been Titling Everything Lately
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on July 22nd, 2006, at 2:34am

Okay folks, just so you know, I’m getting serious now. I’ve found a lot of good reasons to move to Seattle, and not a lot to stay where I am. I love Colorado, but it’s time for me to move forward to the next stage of life. At the moment, that will mean revving up the job hunt process, landing a position in Seattle, and moving there. Then I’ll work more on the grad school part of things.

So here’s the list of things I hope to do by early October:
* sell my VW Beetle
* buy a new car - roomier, four doors, good ergonomical fit, and with larger trunk space
* visit Seattle
* find a job in/around Seattle
* find housing in/around Seattle
* move all my possessions 1,300miles
* buy a laptop if I can afford it - I may wait longer term on this, but it would be useful for grad school and for the lifestyle I would hope to have there - mmm, coffeeshop w/ wifi
* …

I could probably think of a few more things, but those are the major ones.

Oh, and Jake — it’s your fault I’m buying a new car. I can no longer bare the humiliation of driving a “4-Cylinder Sorrority Girl” car. I can’t be driving that if I’m trying to impress people, can I? So next up, I’m thinking of getting a PT Cruiser. Then I’ll be driving a “4-Cylinder Wannabe Suburban Hipster” car. Oh yeah.

So in any case, for all you college homies, you better come visit me in Colorado before I’m gone. Sad as it may be, my trips from there to you will be less frequent due to increased physical distance and transportation cost.

‘Cause that’s life. It’s better than stagnation.

Of eBay and Anime: Unwanted Auction Victory
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on July 20th, 2006, at 11:14am

Trigun Complete CollectionI participated in an auction on eBay yesterday for a collection of anime - the Trigun Complete Collection - Vol 1 - 8. This includes 26 episodes of a highly hilarious sci-fi/comedy/drama set on a foreign planet w/ an Old West kind of feel.

Initially, I only bid because I was curious to see if I could get a really good deal. List price is generally $100 to $150 depending on what site, so I put a max bid of $50 thinking I probably wouldn’t win. I didn’t.

Because I thought I’d lost and I wanted the winner to pay for beating my offer, I set my max bid at $60 figuring I’d just be driving up the after-market cost of anime. Well, instead I ended up winning the bid with $51 and $3.50 for shipping.

I’m kinda pissed ’cause I know I shouldn’t be randomly bidding on eBay auctions for the purpose of unnecessary price inflation, but also ’cause I shouldn’t be spending the money. However, once the DVDs get here, I’ll do my best to enjoy them anyway.
