At times, I like to speak and write in grandiose language, but pleonasm wastes time.

Moved!
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on May 27th, 2006, at 7:02am

If you didn’t notice, the site has been moved to a new address: http://anwanore.com/. If I’ve done things right here, you won’t notice the move at all and the old address should redirect you here. I’ll be fixing up a few minor things that got broken (the poll is down and some of the quotes pages aren’t working), but other then that things should be fine. Let me know if you notice any other problems.

Dinner Party
Dinner Party

I had a bunch of friends from work over for a dinner party last night. Amazingly enough, the apartment got cleaned the night before, and I cooked the main course. Sure, it’s not as good as steak or roast duck, but everybody liked my casserole. If you’re curious, here’s the recipe to feed six people:

The Casserole (For Six!)
• 3.5 - 4lbs ground beef (for one person, just 1lb)
• three cans condensed cream of chicken soup (for one person, one can)
• two cups cooked elbow noodles (for one person, 3/4 to 1 cup)
• several handfuls of shredded cheese (mmm, cheese)
• one chopped tomato (for one person, 1/4 to 1/2 tomato)
• a liberal amount of salt, pepper, oregano

Directions
• brown the beef then drain the grease
• cook noodles separately
• add cream of chicken soup and stir
• add cheese and stir
• add tomatos and stir
• throw seasonings at the casserole like the president throws tax dollars at problems of national security (although owing salt to anyone is generally not recommended)

Anyway, not bad for the first party of its kind. Yeah, it’s not quite fancy, but we got by and did alright. It’s all about the fun-factor anyway.

I Am Destroying the Medical Industry
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on May 19th, 2006, at 7:20am

I think I figured out why the medical industry is so jacked up… people like me.

Wait, I take it back, I’ve never sued anyone. I’ve just had more trouble lately being sick then I have… well… ever. I haven’t actually missed more than a day of work, but I’ve seen the doctor at least five times in the last six months, and I can’t say I enjoy having to go in. Last night it became evident to me that my latest problems still continue to be problems. My stomach is still hurting this morning and I should call the doctor and make an appointment, but I’m exhausted from working all night. So the question is this: do I wait until Monday?

Monday is my dinner party so that would be a bad move. Actually, it turns out I’ve got a therapy appointment for my arms as well. It’s a no win situation, folks, and I feel about ready to fall over and give up.

Update (4:06PM): I ended up going in to see the doc today. Apparently, he can’t do anything else and I need to get a referral to a gastroinstestinal specialist. Now I’m trying to figure out who would be good to see because I’d like to solve this problem the easiest/most-effective way possible. Please pray about this ’cause I’m definitely a bit frustrated and worried.

Don’t Let The Internet Be Destroyed
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on May 15th, 2006, at 10:29am

If you care about the quality of the internet and don’t want to see it destroyed, you need to visit Save The Internet. This is a real issue right now as “net neutrality” could disappear if the big ISPs & telecom companies have their way (they’re currently pushing the COPE Act through Congress that would do just this). If you’ve been paying attention to other issues of national importance lately, you’ll know the big guys at AT&T and others in the industry aren’t looking out for your best interests. Then again, neither is the government, which is why it’s important to start yelling about it now before things get worse.

Basically, what could happen if network neutrality disappears is your ISP could descriminate by providing faster or slower access to certain websites depending on their own financial interests rather than serving up content without prejudice. For example, if your ISP has a partnership with a specific search engine (such as Yahoo!), they could slow down your access to Google or block it entirely.

Follow the link below to find out more at Save The Internet. It takes less than a minute to fill out the petition if you can type halfway decently.
