Clipping Comics to Save Something Special
Posted by on April 7th, 2006, at 1:41am

I’ve begun to love Savage Chickens (go straight to the comics). I’m using them to decorate my sad little cubicle. Turns out all I needed to add some spice was black and white versions of yellow-sticky-note humour. The most recent one I’ve printed and posted is “Life is Good.”

It beats looking at blank walls.

Placating the Beast

Well, it was a sort-of busy weekend, but now it’s over.

Sunday night I didn’t do much. I did some music related stuff. I watched a movie. Talked to some people. Nothing unordinary.

Monday night I got to hang out with Mark and Benjamin. We played pool. After doing horribly at that as usual, we all went to the house of one of the bar employees and played some Texas Hold ‘Em poker. It was a different atmosphere for a game. Some of the people we were playing with are definitely potheads and enjoy drinking and gambling. I have fun hanging out with some of these guys, but I don’t want to end up having no other focus in life than these vices that can so easily control a person.

Seriously. Don’t worry about me too much. I’ve actually be drinking a lot less liquor lately because I know it’s stupid to let intoxication have control. I rarely play poker for money – only a couple times so far this year. I haven’t and hope I never will smoke anything (but a _rare_ cigar).

Honestly, I don’t know how much any of y’all pray for me, but I want to thank you for the times you have and the times you do.

Tuesday night I went to an awesome concert. I saw the Tooth & Nail Tour w/ Emery and Anberlin co-headlining. We got kinda screwed and missed the first two bands ’cause it started an hour before the ticket website said it would. I didn’t care too much about them, but I wanted to see how they sounded anyway.

The rest of the bands did a great job. I got to hear some of my favorite songs from both Emery and Anberlin. I’ve been listening to both since my college days (a whole three years when Anberlin first showed up).

After the show I was driving through Denver. I made a left turn and a motorcycle started honking at me because my vehicle crossed partway into his lane. I hadn’t noticed it was a double left-turn lane. Anyway, I gestured at him nonverbally to indicate “What up with you?” (No, I didn’t flip him off, and neither did Benjamin.) So then he pulled up beside, another motorcycle pulled in front of me, and another behind me.

Needless to say, surrounded in my red Beetle, I was a little bit worried. I switched into the furthest left lane and gunned the engine to drive around one of the ‘cycles. We ended up stopped next to the main cycle at the next stop light. Though we’d closed the windows by this point, I could still hear his angry voice asking “You got something to say? Huh, you got something to say?”

“Ben… roll down the window,” I requested.

The biker continued his taunt, “What, you gonna say something?”

“I’m sorry…”

“What? What did you say?”

“I’m sorry,” I stated again looking at his helmeted-head through the window.

“What’d you say?” He repeated again. I’m not sure if he really didn’t hear me or if his engine was just too loud. The woman on the back of his bike clutching onto him did hear me.

She told him, “He said he’s sorry,” seemingly seeking to placate the situation.

The light turned green, the Beetle drove on and turned left while the motorcycles began to go about their own business.

Honestly, I was a bit worried. Mostly, I didn’t want them to damage my car. And we were outnumbered. In some strange way I wish I had gotten in a fight ’cause it’s something I’ve still never done, but I’m not gonna fight a battle that’s unnecessary especially over such a trivial matter. Defusing the situation seemed like the wisest choice. It worked out well.

Today, I rushed to get my laundry done and then went to work. Exciting life, eh? Well, the weekends contain some fun. Still figuring out what to do the rest of the week.

The Face of Change Looked My Direction and It’s Ugly

I’ve been swearing a lot less lately, but sometimes the words just swell up in my head.

Update: I’ve removed a portion of this post as I don’t feel comfortable leaving it up for all to see. Sorry. The height of emotion and all of that.

This is what I get for challenging God. Well, God, I’m not gonna let down my end of things! I still stick by what I said, OKAY!!!! I don’t care what kind of medical problems you’re throwing at me right now, I don’t care about this junk (edited)! I STICK BY WHAT I SAID!

It’s been a while since I read about Gideon. What exactly happened with his whole deal? And what book of the Bible is that in? I need to read it.

Finding All I Ever Wanted
Posted by on April 1st, 2006, at 8:20am

Turns out I found everything I ever wanted using the internet today. Yup, it’s true. I found love, extra lives (think 1up), a brand new Starcraft-themed restaurant chain, and the best class-action lawsuit ever (I’m so getting in on that hot action — I’ll be rich; rich like Willy Wonka… just imagine chocolate flowing from all the faucets). And my life is way better than the life of an arctic wolf.

Eternal love, deliciously awesome food, plus money and chocolate flowing from every crevice of my tiny, cramped apartment. It’s all I’ve ever wanted!
