I’m very protective of my personal space

If you know anything about Myspace, you should probably listen to “The Myspace Song” by Good Clean Fun. I don’t know much about this band, but they’re the closest thing to a humorous emo/screamo/emocore/hardcore band I’ve ever heard. Five Iron Frenzy for hardcore? Maybe, but I shouldn’t get carried away. (UpBeetMusic: Reviews)

Tacos own. Much tastier than the bachelortilla. I should trademark that term. It would sell if there was a product behind the name.

Life has been going fairly well. I’m almost through the workweek (today’s my Friday). Hopefully I’ll get to see my best friend this week and find out what’s going on in his world. I have an inkling The Man might want him to go back to Iraq, and if so that really sucks, but I don’t really know. He probably couldn’t say on the phone.

I need to give you all a rundown on some good podcasts my brother helped me find a while back that I’ve gotten hooked on. I’m able to load up my iPod mini and listen to them at work, but if you’ve got a car-adapter or spend any significant amount of time in front of a computer, you can find a way to listen.

By the way, how are you guys liking my little audio things? I’m still practicing before I launch a better site for my music ambitions, but I’d like to get an idea what you’re thinking and if you’re even able to listen without problems. Leave comments or email me, please.

As far as stock experimenting goes, I’ve done some more reading and buying Chipotle might have been a bad idea. Turns out the stock is way overvalued. They say you learn the most through experience, and I’m getting some of that now.

What I know:
1) Don’t buy overvalued stock. Check it’s P/E ratio (Price/Earnings). This is a comparison of the price per share and the earnings of the company per share.
2) Hype helps if you already own the stock ’cause the price will go up, but if the price is inflated by hype you probably shouldn’t buy it. This ties in with #1.
3) Don’t be too greedy for the price to keep going up. Say, for example, you owned a few shares of Apple about a year ago. It got up to about 130% of the value I purchased it at, yet I kept holding on hoping it would continue at that pace. However, the price was getting significantly overvalued and started dropping back down. In the end, I sold it for 80% more than I bought it. This is still good, but would’ve been better if I sold a bit sooner.

And that’s all I’ve got on that so far. Gotta get going now. Later!

Understand the Dream is Over

The Juliana Theory is dead. I’m sad. Like, seriously. They’re my favorite band ever, I own all of their albums (except the new greatest hits ’cause I have all the songs already), two t-shirts, and saw them live once. And they’re done. No final tour or anything.

If you want to get an idea of how many people loved them or were inspired by them or whatever, just read the comments in the AP.net forum (approaching 200 comments). I’m one of the many who enjoyed the music stylistically, and if you knew me in college you also know I listened to them a LOT. I remember sitting around listening to them while journaling in some of my darker moments and the music inspired me to.. well… think of something greater. It gave me something to grab on to.

I’m doing a horrible job describing what I’m feeling right now, but let me summarize:

THIS SUCKS!

Artist: The Juliana Theory
Album: Love
Song: The Hardest Things

Lyrics:
They couldn’t have told me
That it would be like this
That it could be like this
For you

I wish I would have known
That it could be like this
That it would be like this
For you

I know you’re hurting
I know you’re reaching out
I’m sure you wonder what this is all about
You couldn’t sweat full, full words be known to you
I’m sure you feel it
You know I feel it too

Sometimes the hardest things in life
Are the things we have to do
And even when we feel it’s right
I never want to hurt you

Winnings and Losings

Last night we hosted poker night at the apartment w/ six of the guys from work (and one significant other). It’s the first time we’ve done it so far, and it’s also the first time we’ve played together since the game we had at my parent’s house. I guess I’m just becoming quite the host. I think we did well except for the necessity of having guests bring their own chairs. We only have four: office chair, recliner, and two folding chairs.

It was fun though. My roommate won the first game, and I won the second. After we all finished playing, it ended up just being Benjamin, Smiles, and I playing Twisted Metal Black for a few hours. I almost felt bad with all the noise we were making and I just hope the neighbors couldn’t here us cheering and yelling when something went right. Oh well.

Well, I better eat my lunch. Later!
