Christmas tunes so often played
I hum songs about a jolly-fat
lie in a bright red suit
while I’m shopping
to stuff the wallets and purses of business
ties who celebrate greed year-round
Speaking of shopping, off I go. With any luck, I’ll be able to finish my purchases this morning. Hark, the herald cashier ring, glory to a purchased thing.
And now, I will spare you from disappointing, inwardly-peering, bitter cynicism and doubt. Good day.
