So Much Better than Tofu

Allie left today. I am sad about that. We had a lot of fun while she was here. I enjoyed being in the same vicinity as her since we’re normally so far apart. It’s hard to do things like watch TV together and take walks when five-hundred miles distant and it’s those things that I’ll miss.

A few pictures are available for your perusal. Unfortunately, I didn’t get great quality pictures and I forgot to copy Allie’s to my computer before she left, but I’ve put up a few for you to view.

Some Thanks Giving

I thank God for who he is and what he’s done in my life, for my family and all the many blessings he’s provided us with over the years, for my friends old and new, and most especially of all for you.

One of the biggest things I’m thankful for this year is meeting Allie this summer and getting to know her. As I’ve mentioned, she’s here in Colorado right now and we’ve been spending a lot of time together. Yesterday was most excellent — Estes Park, Rocky Mountain National Park, some chill-time at home, and dinner and a movie at FlatIron Crossing mall.

Today involved traditional family Thanksgiving with relatives and later in the evening Allie and I went to be with people from my church for continued eating and game playing.

Some of the most exciting news of the day involves a measurement and the difference of an inch. After years of thinking she measured 5′ 3″ tall, a tapemeasure has confirmed Allie to be 5′ 4″ tall. This is exciting stuff!

Unfortunately, I am only 6′ 1/8″ tall and therefore unable to conscientously round up to 6′ 1″. Alas.

Tomorrow I will be working while you are playing and shopping and whatnot (and unfortunately for you, I suppose, whatnot may also include working). ‘Twill be hazardous for the health of retail employees, I fear.

She’s Here

I am a flower quickly fading, here today and gone tomorrow.

The Shutter

Poem: The Shutter
Author: Erundur Anwamehtar

From the west the sun comes
backwards to reach my eyes and shout
“I am fading and soon will reveal
nothing; you will see
nothing.”

I run inside to grab
my camera. It captures
the light’s remains. Picture
one last picture.

It’s all you get
to keep, but it’s an image
you’ll never see.
