To The Springs
Posted by on January 3rd, 2004, at 1:07am

I’ll be leaving for Colorado Springs within two hours for the Edge Corps Preview. The roads contain some snow, so I’ll have to leave a bit sooner than I was planning on. I’m looking forward to seeing friends from UNL at the Preview (our Edge Corps team and Jenny) and being in an atmosphere that encourages spending time with God and thinking about spiritual things.

Being at home has been a nice break from life, but it’s also been a break from the things that matter most, and that’s been a downside. It’s hard to concentrate on anything of value when surrounded by computers and televisions, or when spending time with friends in the bars and being barraged with sin and its affects. (Just for reference, in this situation I was the driver.)

Anyway, I should get ready to leave. I’m just hoping this little retreat is what I need.

Welcome to 2004

Happy New Years to all of y’all. As you can tell, I’m posting this at exactly midnight MST. (Okay, it lies, I edited the timestamp so it would look like that.) Surely there is no better way to spend your New Years than watching Dick Clark’s New Years Rockin’ Eve. Unless of course you have somewhere to go, somebody to go with, and something to do when you get there.

The things I typically enjoy about New Years Eve is snacking on food, watching movies, being with friends, and when the ball drops enjoying a bit of champagne. Instead I watched several episodes of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit (marathon, woohoo) and ate a popsickle and some apple sauce (although I did manage some Chinese food for dinner). My dad and I watched part of the Colorado State vs. Boston College bowl game, but that ended up getting lame when CSU kept making mistakes. We switched to Dick Clark, and soon the year ended. I almost missed the clock hitting “0″ while distracted by some thought I can’t even remember. And now, I will begin the new year in the best way I know how.

Sleep.
