In case you were wondering, I didn’t go to New Mexico. But you weren’t wondering, so it’s okay.
Friday night I saw “Master and Commander”:http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0311113/. Good times. It’s a quality flick and I can understand why there’s Oscar rumours circulating about this film. The plot is well done, the acting is dandy, cinematography is impressive, and the music fits in well (most of the time).
Saturday involved attempting research at the library. I found a few sources in the time I was there. Lauren hooked me up with another book tonight. In the course of my anxiety-filled nightmares last night, I came up with a few ideas for the thesis.
Today’s been a better day than yesterday by far. I took it off from schoolwork. Church was good this morning with a sermon from Bart about the proper way to seek influence in people’s lives (love) as opposed to improper (condemnation). Followed up lunch with a nice, distraction-free nap. After that, had some good time reading the Bible and a bit about prayer from some books.
Colossians 4:2-4 – “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.”
This verse alone (although there are many others on the topic) asserts the ideas of thankfulness and petition in prayer. Other aspects, as seen in the Lord’s Prayer, include adoration and praise of God and seeking his forgiveness.
Tonight for dinner some of the Love Hall women had my, Dennis, and Ray’s freshman Bible study over for dinner. It’s the first extended amount of time I’ve spent over there (other than a quick stop by or two). I had an excellent time, enjoyed the food, the conversation (quite entertaining), and the post-dinner game of … uh… I forget its name.
And now I’m back in my room goofing around and wasting time online before bed. Whee!
