Crystal, Swing Dancing, etc.
Posted by on June 30th, 2003, at 1:34am

Oh Crystal, it’s your birthday… Happy Birthday!

Went to Famous Dave’s for Crystal’s birthday tonight. That was fun. She’s one of my many managers at work. I know her firstly from school and Navs though. She’s a cool friend.

And then I took a nap.

Several people went country-swing dancing out at the Pla-Mor tonight. It was a lot of fun and the first time I’d been out there since the last couple weeks of school. I enjoy dancing, but tonight I enjoyed conversing almost nearly as much.

AmeriCruise, Stress

Yesterday, Misty and her family were in town for Mid-Americruise – an event for people with swanky, awesome hot-rods and other fancy cars. People were cruising up and down ‘O’ Street for hours. Anyway, Misty, her brother Lee, Matt, and I drove up and down the street in her 1967 Ford Fairland (this is not her specific car, but another of the same type).

Oh, and work is stressing me out and I screwed up last night and I’m frustrated. That’s all I’ll say about that.

Vampire?

No, I’m not becoming Dracula. But then again, I am posting this at 3:34 AM. My schedule has begun to get out of whack. However, this is more in line with my work schedule. I’ve been working evenings lately and getting home around 11PM. Tomorrow I get to work the overnight shift from 9PM to 4AM. I’m not entirely thrilled, but whatever.

Tonight I “moved up” (I’m not really sure if it’s a good thing or not, but I have been getting some respect from the managers, and I consider that a good sign) to doing the fries. For about forty-five minutes I put together orders and handed them out the drive-thru window. It’s slightly more complex than simply grilling meat and I enjoyed that change of pace although I had to learn how to do the majority of that position in about 5 minutes of time.

I talk about work because it seems like all I’ve been doing lately. What else can I do when nearly every evening I have is spent there? * sigh *

Misty stopped by tonight though after I got home. She’s in town for AmeriCruise that’s here this weekend. (It’s a car show.) She’s got a really sweet car. I don’t know what it is or anything about it, but if I did I’d let you know. It does have a couple cool looking racing stripes though.

Woah… I just got lost for another half hour at A Blog Apart – seriously, the intellectual discussion is kinda nice. Seriously, they’ve got some interesting stuff to talk about. I’m not sure I follow everything going on there (some recent discussions surround Catholicism, and I don’t know a whole lot about it), but the majority is interesting.

And now I’m going to sleep. Or read. Or something. It’s really stinkin’ late.

An article about MP3s at A Blog Apart – a weblog I’ve newly begun to frequent that offers interesting articles and debate.

A new version of SharpReader is available. SharpReader is an RSS aggregator that allows you to keep track of multiple weblogs via their RSS feeds.

Hey, you got any… ?

As is probably obvious, my new job has already begun to affect my life. Firstly, it takes time. Secondly, I’ll have money (once payday gets here…). Thirdly, I meet some really different people that I wouldn’t run into in my usual everyday life. I don’t even need to explain the sorts of strange stories I hear at work. But I will tell one story.

I’d just finished working, ate my dinner, and took off for home. Driving down the highway on the five-minute stretch to home, I had my hat on backwards, my collar turned up, was listening to some music on my stereo, and driving along. This dude pulls up next to me and says “Hey, you from Colorado?”

“Yeah.”
“What part?”
“uh… Glorburmont.”
“Hey, you got any…” and then he proceeded to hold his hands to his lips and pretend to smoke a joint. (In any case, that’s the impression I got.)
“No…”

And then he drove off. So… the moral of the story is if you act like me, you’re bound to get hit up for drugs. </witty comment & the story>

Other then that, Cora came over yesterday so I got to hang out with her for a couple hours before work, then afterwards Tyler, Jesse, Cora, and Matt were all around. We played Uno for a while, took Tyler home, and then cruised up to Wahoo and back, stopped at Amigos, came home, and slept.

Oh, you’ve heard me talk about Lucerin Blue before, and their lyrics are pretty tight.
