Update: This code is way old and hasn’t been tested in a while. As such, I have removed it. I’m fairly certain it didn’t work with the newest versions of PHP and MySQL.
I use this code to do my random quote generation. It’s just PHP and works in the newest version (4.3.whatever). The code should still work with older versions, but I used to have some code that doesn’t work on the newest version so I modified the random function. The table I’ve got set up in the database for quotes is called “quotes” and includes a field called source (varchar 80) and quote (text).
Remember to change the spots where it has _db_host, db_user, db_pass,_ and _db_name_ to the correct values for your site.

Oh yes. It’s true. I _am_ happy. But, I’m not gonna ramble about it on here. If you wanna know what’s going on, just ask me, eh?
But yeah. I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes. ^_^

I might shut down “Digital Ocean,” “Surf Hobo,” “the weblog,” or whatever you would like to call my ‘blog. If not that, I’m thinking of at least altering the type of information I post. On this site I’ve posted a lot of information about myself and my life. Although this is information I don’t at all mind sharing with my friends, family, and acquaintances, having it (and its archives) available for anyone doing research on me is somewhat unnerving. Many ‘bloggers, for anonymity and some sense of professionality, maintain a less-personal posting style. I don’t necessarily want to eliminate all personal information from this site, but I think some sort of change is in order.
I’ll flush out the details at a later time. Comments, as usual, are welcome.
Update: It’s been shutdown, but in September 2007 many of the archives were resurrected with a modicum of editing.

Matt and I did some housework and yardwork this morning. The lawn is mowed, back yard watered, weeds whacked, bathroom cleaned, floors swept, carpet vacuumed, etc. It’s all dandy now.
We had some barbecue over at Brian and Tom’s apartment (Kevin’s gone now, so it is thus dubbed “Brian and Tom’s”) then went and played frisbee golf with them, Chuck, Travis G., and a few other guys. Oh, and I got tanner without even going tanning.
Tonight we had our meeting for summer bible study leaders. Hatfield gave us some advice on things and some information to consider when leading the study. I’m teamed up with Jaci to lead one of the six studies. It’s every week and topical covering various aspects of living a Christian life.
Afterwards Jenny and Ray stayed and played a fine game of spades, although Jenny and Matt did beat Ray and I. I have no luck at that game, but I do enjoy it.
Tomorrow I’m going to… well, I’m not sure what I’ll do yet. Perhaps I’ll call Wally World back about that job application. Maybe some other places. Maybe I’ll get lucky and hear back from one of the other places. It’s gotta happen soon.
