The Past 24
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on February 18th, 2003, at 12:50pm

I haven’t much enjoyed the last day or so, which is evidenced by the post I made last night. I’ve just generally been frustrated with some areas of my life, especially some areas which have been undergoing change lately. It’s painful to change sometimes, and even moreso when it involves issues close to the heart. Scar tissue and all that, y’know. Not the best analogy ever, but that’s as close as I feel like cutting the subject in this blog. I was able to talk to a friend about some of the stuff going on and I read some passages in the Bible which really spoke to me, especially 1 Peter 4 and 2 Corinthians 13. I’ve got class early in the morning, so I’m going to head off to sleep now. Good night.

A Christian Perspective on War

We live in A World At War. I found this article over at the US Navigator’s Home earlier today, and it is an excerpt from In His Service by Col. Rick Bereit. It provides a look at war from a biblical perspective, dealing with war’s existence, involvement in them, and Biblical references dealing with the war.

In summary:
• War is a result of man’s rebellion against God.
• War has existed first in heaven and now on earth, and it will continue until God brings it to a close.
• Militaries exist to secure national objectives.
• National objectives can be good or evil, and you should evaluate your nation’s military objectives in light of your own beliefs and conscience.
• The Bible gives examples of how God has used warfare to accomplish His purposes.
• Although they could have, neither Jesus nor John the Baptist forbid military service to Christians.

What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? (James 4:1)
