Improving
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on November 15th, 2002, at 11:23am

I lay and watched the half-moon descending behind the city last night. Today, the sky is cloudy, but there is some blue and the sun is definitely out.

Warmth

A Poem by Erundur Anwamehtar
Inspired by “warmth quickly colored” by Fred Gallagher
11/13/2002

A woman looks at me,
bold eyes, two glistening plates, peering out.
A striped sweater warms her body and neck.
I want her

to speak. If she can talk
to me about an empty cage,
devoid of pet ferret,
or another odd highlight of her day,
I could be entertained

for a moment or three nods.
Her hair is lengthy and seal-brown,
a soft touch kindling my fervor.
    Add two mittens for flavor!
I want more

time to spend looking at her, but
I wasted my nickels and dimes on flavored cola
    (I blame curiosity)
and now she’s frozen, an ice palace I cant touch because

she’s a merely a picture.
Another dream I can purchase, but never fully
own.

20 Minute Runaway
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on November 12th, 2002, at 11:16am

I ran away for 20 minutes. Now that I’m back, all I want to do is leave again. How typical is this? I want to leave, but then I must return once more, never satisfied, never fulfilled by what I seek under city-glow and a half-full moon in the west.

The Weekend Spun By
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on November 11th, 2002, at 5:28am

The weekend spun by faster than two fast-swinging dancers. I spent a lot of time with friends this weekend watching movies, eating food, dancing, and generally sharing life together. This semester has been awesome in terms of friendship building. I’ve gotten to know a number of people better within the dorm and elsewhere. (You all rock!) Anyway.

Check out Christian Resources and let me know what you think. I’ve got some plans for improving the random quiz a little bit, but I honestly won’t work on it again till next weekend or so. (Thanks for your comments on it, Rachael.)

I got my test back for World History today. 90! Woohoo! (Out of 100, if you were curious.) This helps my grade in there tremendously, but unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be able to pull it up to an A by the end of the semester unless I absolutely master the final and remaining quizzes. I might just try that.

Eh… not many tests or anything left till finals now. Plenty of other reading and things to do if I want to keep up. I might just try that, too. We’ll see, won’t we?

MegaTokyo
Posted by Erundur Anwamehtar on November 8th, 2002, at 11:12am

MegaTokyo blanketMegaTokyo is a sweet manga webcomic done by Fred Gallagher (a.k.a. Piro). “Manga” is a term for comics drawn in a Japanese style. The comic is about the characters of Piro and Largo who are currently stuck in Japan. It’s a rather odd and amusing comic at times and draws intensively on the mixed culture created when throwing these Americans into Japan and also involving a lot of tech humor. There are often references to video game systems, zombies, evil robots, and other such things. Largo commonly employs “leet” speak (1 4M 1337 U L4M3R -> note: this is my attempt at representing it. Some people can do it without using any letters. This says “I am leet [elite] you lamer.” This kind of talk is commonly employed by frequenters of internet video gaming and chat culture.) Fred just got laid off at his real life job, so now he’s going to start doing MegaTokyo full time. W00T! This means the three posts a week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday) will probably really get done every week with no filler material (DPD - Dead Piro Day, or SGD - Stig Guy Dom). So, check it out, it’s good stuff. (On a side note, I wish I had the bedspread shown in the picture. It’s not on sale for the masses, though…. yet.)
